gotta hand it to Mother Nature...

rainy rainy rainy rainy rainy rainy rainy day doesn't let up rainy rainy day.

I love the rain! And I love the sun. And there must be both to make a rainbow - what a gooey way nature has of damanding balance.

Last night, I went to play with Megan's girls and read to them and help with homework and stuff. I adore visits there, and Megan always feeds me something good on top of it. She rocks, and I don't think she even knows it, tho I try to tell her.
Got home to learn that, earlier in the evening, the cat had scented a raccoon in the backyard and - Good Work, Sentry Kitty! - was throwing herself against the slider to get out and beat the crap out of it. Not that she would have succeeded at it, mind you, but she's A CAT. Gotta hunt, dammit! Lemme OUT!
Paul didn't know it was a raccoon, only that the cat was desperately vocalizing, so he grabbed a golf club, turned out the lights, and went out to sneak up on the prowler. After ID'ing the big guy, he decided that perhaps the outdoor cat food should come in each night after all. Glad we can stop speculating as to who, exactly, is eating all that food.
All that action had the cat pretty well wired for sound by the time I arrived during MXC Challenge on Spike TV, and she was restless all night... until around 4am, when she thought she'd just let all her ya-ya's out by throwing up wetly on the sleeping, helpless Paul. Gross but funny. It didn't go over well with him, to say the least.

So all this rain has kept the charming outdoor kitty visitors to a minimum - haven't seen even one of them all day. It's slowed to a fine drizzle now, so maybe one of them still has a chance to not go hungry. Everything's soooo green now.

grrrrr...

It's just plain annoying that you have to file, or at least complete, your taxes in order to request financial aid in February. I don't mind doing the taxes; it's just gross to have to do two complex tasks so close together and have their results so inextricably entwined. Ewww. OK, I'll suck it up now...

And must replace the garage door opener without replacing the garage door. I wonder whether that's hard to bid out, wthout getting upsold for a new door? Hmmmm. The sales meeting was sooooo slow, thanks to the need for Spanish-English translation. I wonder why they don't just have a separate meeting for each language? Nice of Kathy to give me her grab-bag silver earrings, though, they're so Spring-y. Thanks, Kath! And now, off to collect the pizza-pie. Mmmmm, sliced meatballs.
